What Can I Expect at an Eye Exam?

Please allow approximately 2-3 hours at our office for a new patient visit. This amount of time is required for check in and all necessary diagnostic testing and examinations. A typical follow up visit takes approximately 1-2 hours. Occasionally there are delays caused by emergency cases or unforeseen problems. We strive to minimize any patient inconvenience and ask for your understanding during these times. There are snacks available for purchase at the front window and coffee is provided.

Your pupils will be dilated to allow our physicians to perform a retinal examination. There will also be various diagnostic test and ocular imaging performed during your visit. Once your physician reviews your diagnostic tests, a treatment plan will be developed for you. Our facility is equipped to perform laser treatments and intraocular injections in office. Major surgical procedures are performed at the Main Coliseum Surgery Center or the Coliseum Ambulatory Surgery Center. We strongly suggest that you have someone drive you since you will be dilated when you leave. Sunglasses will be provided upon checking out.

Please feel free to contact our office with any questions prior to or following your visit.
